Maple?

Dead tree decided to come down and take out part of my fence. Fairly certain it's maple.

Ran a ~5" piece through the jointer and then sliced it on the table saw

At the largest, it's maybe a 12" tree. If I can get the rest of it down and cut 6-8' lengths, I have a guy who will slice it up for me

Looks too ring porous for maple. maybe ash and a victim of ash borer. Do you havd any photos of the leaves back when it was alive. If not do you remember if the leaves were compound?

No leaves. It was dead last year when I moved here. It was on my list of things to do last fall to take it down.

If it's not in too bad of shape, I might be able to get enough out of it for a small table and benches

I bought some Ashe turning blanks from Klingspor. Ash is a very hard wood, but it turns beautifully. It lets you know if your tools are not sharp.

If someone wants some shorter or smaller diameter pieces for turning or whatever, let me know.

It's been dead for a while apparently. The piece I cut last week in the first post picture is ~7.5%
