The first thing I made with the table saw was this.

Which enabled me to rip a piece of 4x8 plywood to make this.

It's a basic box with sliding front panels made with a single sheet of 1/2" plywood and some old hardboard I had laying around.
The hardboard was used by my daughter as a play board so is covered in her drawings and writing, so I don't plan to finish/cover it.

This is the first time I've made dados and rebates - I've never had the tools previously to make them accurately enough.
Used the table saw for the dados for the sliding panels and the router for the dados and rebates for the plywood and internal dividers.

It's going to mount on the wall above the workbench and below the wood storage racks.

Now I can finally organise the place a bit and then get to work.

Good first projects, especially like the shop safety project.

My kids used to customize some of my projects when they were little, I kinda miss that.

I love setting up a new shop! I lay in bed dreaming about what I'll do in the morning. You're coming along real well Paul. What table saw were you blessed with?

It's an old Emerson Craftsman I purchased from John on this site.

I wish I'd bought one earlier - there's stuff you just can't do with anything but a table saw.

This is it finished and in place.

It has made a huge difference and should make work easier and quicker.

Perhaps others will chime in, 1/2” ply seems really thin for that long of span. Even for storing boxes of cereal, cotton balls and styrofoam peanuts. I’m not sure 3/4” would be enough.

May want to consider building a torsion box shelf with/for the 1/2” ply. That would be incredibly sturdy.

Are you noticing any deflection from placing power tools on this?
