Hi friends, does anyone know of a triangle area machine shop that will do a small job? I need to get new bearings pressed on my PM 72 tablesaw arbor shaft. I don't have a gear puller or press, so I know when I am over my head. I live in Chatham County, but regularly travel to Chapel Hill and Burlington.

Thanks,

Bill W.

Put the shaft in the freezer over night and warm the bearings up to about 180° and they will slip right on.
Thats a fact. I have done this on more motors than I can count. I typically just heat the bearing and use a can of freeze spray on the shaft though. Just make sure its seated properly and hold it in place a few seconds.

If you can't find any help maybe I can since that is what I do at work.I don't mind throwing in a helping hand when I can. I probably have the needed tools at home. Let me know if I can help.

You might look at the local community colleges. Some have a machinist program and they will take on small side jobs to help teach the students. Should be much cheaper too.
