It likely was either hollow or close to it. If you look at the root ball, very little dirt came up with it, indicating rot in the stump.

Just saw the log being loaded on a truck, via the TV news. It was solid, and beautiful. It will make a lot of bft, perhaps 1000 bft in the butt log. Just hope it isn't hiding any hardware, which so many rodside, and urban trees seem to be plagued with.:eusa_doh:

Wow, we were riding through that area on our motorcycle late yesterday afternoon (on the way back to Boone from Atlanta) and the clouds at I-85 and Hwy 321 were as black as night. The storm must have come through pretty soon after we started our last leg coming north on 321.
