I had to dig deep, but I found a stocking retail dealer for KDAT boards. Brady lumber is east of Ramsuer , out in the country. They stock the common sizes of 1x and 2x boards from the Culpepper wood treatment plant next door. As far as I can tell, they are the only stocking location within fifty miles of Greensboro. Their boards are premium quality, no knots SYP.
I'm building a very plain 5"rectangular gate for the back yard. I wanted kiln dried after treatment boards for several reasons: they are straight, and flat, they will hold screws much better than the normal soggy PT, they are lighter weight , you can paint them without waiting six months for PT to dry out. Yes they cost more than soggy wood, about$3 board foot. But that's less than cedar or cypress. I'm surprised that there isn't more demand for KDAT.
