Kay MA-2-R-VS - 10 hp Rotary Phase Converter
I have used this phase converter in my small one person professional woodshop for the last 3 years. Details below.
*Not available immediately* Still in regular use and will likely need a ~2-3 week notice before it can leave my shop.
*Rated to start up to a ~10 hp 3 phase motor*, though I have started a 12 hp shaper with it and a few 9 hp motors no problem. Can run ~20 hp simultaneously, as long as they are started separately and no single load is more than ~10 hp.
It has a load sensing feature that allows it to idle in “low” and for smaller HP motors and automatically ramps up to “high” when it senses more current…or that can be bypassed and run in High all the time.
See the photo for electrical requirements. I have been running it on a 60 amp single phase 240v breaker with 4 ga wire incoming and 8 ga wire on the 3 PH output side into a 3 PH sub panel.
Maintenance in the last ~ year:
All (8) new capacitors - start and run
New (2) 60 amp fuses
New (2) motor rotor bearings (NSK 6309V) and rotor removal and cleaning
Unit will come with some backup electrical components:
(2) 250v 60 amp time delay fuses
(1) OEM replacement switch
*The OEM contactor can be sourced for ~$100, fyi.
I am only selling this because I want to move to a digital Phase Perfect converter for a few different reasons.
New replacement cost for comparable from Kay is ~ $3500-4000 +/- plus freight shipping.
Asking $2000 obo.
Located just outside Boone, NC and will help you load, would possibly consider local/regional delivery for a fee and not sure if I would crate to ship. I have video of it turning on, etc.
It weighs ~325 lbs.
