My 1995 planer died. I was planing some popular and almost done with the first side of the first board and it quit. The reset button did nothing. Is there something else to try?

That’s my thought. Just, it was perfect, no snipe, sharpened the blades recently, and I don’t use it often. Saving up.

It may take some time for the windings and reset button to cool off. Try again. If you actually fried it, you probably will have smelled it.

Fixed it.
I now know what brushes look like! They don’t look like a brush! They are fine.
I now know how to take a switch out and what to check on it. It is fine.
I then plugged the planer into a different outlet. IT WORKED!
I had it plugged into a retractable extension cord. That thing had a reset button on it too!
I had my husband climb up on the step stool and press the reset. It now works.
FYI I was the one that decided to plug into a different outlet. That part makes me proud!

So my first guess what right then and wouldn't it be ironic if your husband's name is Tom?

Your circuits dead, there's something wrong. Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom?

With electrical problems, the cause can be anything and anywhere.
I'm glad this turned out to be an easy remedy. They don't always end this well.

Glad it worked out, but this means no new planer. I guess Santa already knew about your being no so nice this year, though, I for one, don't believe it
