Made a dovetail plane, maple plus some wood
from the Woodcraft box, using a blade picked up
earlier, cut an old chisel for the side thing:

Nice work! It is fun to make your own tools. I made a Japanese style handplane in a class down in Highland Woodworking in Atlanta a few years back (the class was a birthday present from my wife when we lived down there).

Not to sound to stupid but how do you use it? not sure I completely understand what it does.

Looks great! Is there a depth stop on the other side? I assume that's what the threaded knob is for. Mike, this plane is for making the dovetail on the end of a board that is to fit in a sliding dovetail joint.

How do you plan to make the dovetailed slot in the other board?

Thanks all for the encouragements.
There's no depth stop yet, figured maybe I'll
simply do the eye-balling.
That thread-knob holds the scriber in place, the
color is ugly, but I checked Ace/BORG, etc., can
not find a good bolt-screw/nut pair.

Will find a project to really use it, I know,
without shavings, it's still a toy.;)
