I have heard this term before in the reference of finishing wood but I'm not sure what it means.
I have mostly just stained a piece, let it dry for a few days, and then cover with Polyurethane. Am I missing a step that I should consider?
I am looking for enlightenment:dontknow:

I personally have not heard that term before. Your first coat of any finish is going to be a sealer coat. There are different hardness to many top coats. Polyurethane being one of the softest (and more scratch resistant).
