I spent the past 10 days or so on a mission trip in Guatemala, trying to help a friend of mine who runs a home for teen age boys. I thought I'd share some pictures of what we did.
Redneck router table
Pull out trash / recycle cans
Hand braces still available at the hardware store - can't recall price, but seemed reasonable
Stanley table saw - $300
Makita jigsaw - also $300
The 1/2" plywood I bought down there was reasonable too - about $25 for cabinet grade, just a tad under 1/2" but too thick for a 7/16" router bit. Pairs of full extension ball bearing slides were about $8 if I recall correctly.
We had a lot of fun, a LOT of time riding a bus on horrible roads, and made some new friends. Mark's house is at about 6,000' above sea level. We went up the mountain to an overlook that is closer to 10,000'.
