Finished walnut table

I made this walnut table back in September for my son and finally did the final rubbing out and waxing today. Button lac shellac finish. The table is a reproduction of a Randolph County NC table ca. 1815-1825. One of the few surviving Randolph County pieces with sulfur inlay. The inlay on my table is maple. The initials are sulfur.

Beautiful table even without the inlay. With it - wow. I'm sure your son will really appreciate it.

Beautiful table. I particularly like the sulphur inlay and QS yellow pine drawer sides. Is the top attached with through-pins? I was puzzled when I saw the picture into the drawer pocket with no attachments visible.

VERY impressive!
did you do the stringing and banding inlay by hand or with a router.

Oh, and I'll bite - are the initials A.B.G. your son's initials?

Nice work. Also curious to hear more about the inlay work.

Now I feel like I have to try sulfur inlay.

Thank you! Yes ABG. I did the stringing by hand. Just a narrow scraper blade with two teeth filed in screwed to a block with a finish nail for arc center.

Thank you Mark! you should try it . Sulfur inlay is very easy. Cutting out the recess is the more involved part but very gratifying results.
