Finally Done

After a year since purchasing the rough quarter sawn white oak lumber from Scott Smith down in New Hill, I have finally completed my nightstands. With having two young kids I’m lucky if I get to work in the garage more than 30mins to an hour at a time. Now that I look back on it, I wish I would have kept a time log to see how many hours they took to complete.

This has been the most complex project I have taken on to date. The legs and rails are joined with mortise and tenons. The sides and back are solid glued up panels. The drawers are hand cut dovetails.

Now to get the garage cleaned up and start planning the next project!

Very sharp looking furniture, of course it’s hard to go wrong with Scott Smith’s quarter sawn oak.

Nick, those look great! I love the finish and especially the hardware.
If you don't have a way to leave a maker's mark, it's time to get one. Those are timeless and will be enjoyed and bragged on by those two young kids when they have kids of their own. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Bas, my wife picked out the hardware. She actually had that hardware in mind when I started the project, when we purchased them and held them up to the finished drawers they worked perfectly.

Very nice, nothing like QSWO, and the stain brings out the grain quite nicely... not too over-the-top.
