First, this thread isn't about someone telling me I should use ABC, or XYZ brand of hose couplers instead of HF's. I been there and spent a lot of money that could have been used else where. I like the HF ones, first because they are brass, and secondly they are cheap, as in $2.99 for coupler, and four male hose ends. After SEVERAL years of hard use, they leak just like any other brand. The rubber washer that seals hose barb takes a set. Looking at coupler, the body screws apart just above the hex portion. Separate body halves, remove and turn rubber washer over. Reassemble, and you are good to go. Did a couple hoses today.

I need to give this a shot. The main coupler on the end of my hose reel has started leaking pretty bad.

I have them leaking out of the box, before they are years old. Yet I have some steel ones that get used heavily, which I bought from Sears 38 years ago, and they still work fine. I think somehow the interior tolerances are greater in the HF ones.

Thanks for the reminder. I will pull a few apart when I have an evening for a short putzing around activity.
