Well, I finally started installing the new pipe I got for my cyclone dust collector. For some reason I still can't decipher, I went with metal pipe again. I did not cut myself at all with what I have done so far, but leave it to me to go to the BORG and exchange some pipe that I got wrong and to cut the fool out of myself picking the pipe up. Figures.

The first thing I had to do was brace the wall mount kit for the cyclone. A friend of mine gave me the angle steel and I just cut it and painted it to match.

Then I started assembling the first section of my main trunk line. I bought the wide 90's and wyes from Oneida Air systems. The 90's are ok, but the wyes are a PITA like I have never seen. They are such a heavy guage of steel that they don't give at all. It was a royal pain getting two of them to fit together. The main trunk is 8" diameter pipe, and I am going to 6" down to the individual drops and whatever size the machine takes from there.

Once I got the first section up things got a little better.

From this next shot, you can see I have a crooked section in the trunk between the 2nd and 3rd wye, but I haven't fastened and screwed everything so I can still straighten it out.

As you can see below, I still have a lot of fittings and pipe to go. This is just a partial shot, but hopefully, it will suck stupendously.

By the time I get through, I will have 8 machines tied to the unit. I hope to be done by this upcoming weekend, but we will see.

Thanks for looking

Wow, that looks a lot better than the configuration that I saw a while back, and much shinier too:-D I am glad that Murphy's Law only ruled once with your trip to the BORG.

Travis, is the inlet at your cyclone 8"? mine is only 7". I started off with 7" then dropped to 6" after the first few wyes, then ran 5 " to all the machines with a 5" to 4" reducer to 4" blast gates with short runs of 4" flex hose I tie in the machines. Your install looks like it is coming along great.

Yes, mine is an 8 inch at the inlet. I am using the same logic as you. 8 to the first couple of wyes and down to 6 from there. Only reason I am doing 6 is I had some of that.

Well, I put up some more pipe last night. I got cocky and didn't wear gloves, and I paid for it with 3 nicked fingers, one worse than the rest. Needless to say, I am getting a tetanus shot. I will say it again, I hate metal pipe. If I ever do it again, I will break down and buy Nordfab or go total plastic. Thanks for looking.

Here is where I am with the main trunk line. It goes at a slight angle across the shop, drops to 6 inch pipe and will serve my router table and drill press.

Here is a pic of the line that will serve the jointer and planer. I did get the line run all the way down to the jointer.

For the Jointer, I am using a 6 inch blast gate. It is huge, but I am mounting all the gates for easy access.

Here is the end of the ceiling section that will serve the router table and drill press.

Lastly, here is my contraption. The two 4 inch gates will serve my Performax and belt/disk sander. The 6 inch will go to my bandsaw.

Great looking work Travis. I know you will be happy with it once you get it all tied in and running. You'll suck big time then.

Travis,
You've done some pretty impressive work which should qualify for work in the HVAC fields. In addition to the sore fingers, betcha got a stiff neck too. Anyway, when it's done you'll have something to be proud of.
