I need to build a taller base for the 3/4 size drill press I bought from Skymaster and I'm thinking I'd like the feed arm quill (whatever it's called) about armpit height. Right now it's about 6" lower than that and I'm always stooping. I looked at Jet floor standing models and they were about that height so it seems good to me. Anyone like anything different?

While I'm at it, I'm wondering what to consider when laying out drawers or whatnot in the base. Obviously storage for bits... but if anyone has built one what would you do different and what do you like about what you have? Should the base be weighted for stability?

Incidentally, the first thing I did was make a wood handle for table height adjustment crank. The top pic was after I smeared some wax on and it looks gross. The wood handle is padded with leather because the metal handle was an odd size and I didn't have a bit to fit. It is snug but spins freely and makes cranking much nicer.
