Just catching up on my weekly This Old House programs, they had something mind blowing.

A "new" floor sander. A belt sander with a small Onieda cyclone separator built into the sander.

They ran it in a small area, there was no dust in the air and none wiped up off the floor.

Mfg claims 99% dust capture.

How cool!

I WANT ONE!!!

The dust collection is a complete system with multiple configurations from Oneida. What is interesting is that for the floor sander system they use a mini-cyclone on the sander, then suck the dust from the bottom of the cyclone with a more traditional vacuum. Kinda mixing the good with the bad? It might be a volume thing. The mini-cyclone does a better job moving and filtering a larger volume of air which is needed with floor sanders than the vac so they just let the vac suck away the concentrated dust?

Oh, and by the way, they are $$$$$$$$$$$

I would have killed for that when I was doing floors! even though we would wear masks, I think I could still hack up dust:BangHead:
