Hi,

I am refinishing a 40 year old house that we are turning craftsman. I have built kitchen cabinets with curly maple doors and rain maple framing. The Curly Maple has Allot of figure I want to make POP. I have tried Bisninger Amber Shellac (from Lowes) and feel it is a little too red for me. I would like a more honey color. I am not a finishing expert and have around 12 doors to finish plus the knee wall for the raised breakfast bar.

The wood work is great, I dont want to ruin it. Any suggestions? Oil, other shellacs etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to wipe on BLO and then , after it dries, spray laquer. Sounds like they will be some pretty cabinets!

Just noticed this is your first post! Welcome. Please add a thread to the Who We Are forum and tell us a little about yourself! You have several others near you in Mooresville!

Tom,
FWIW, here are a couple of pictures of a hall table I built, using curly maple.

I started with a coat of Boiled Linseed Oil (BLO) followed with several coats of clear shellac.

Hope this helps.
