Usually my mother-in-law starts asking for a Christmas list in July. I'm 54 years old and I usually buy what I want, within reason, throughout the year when I need/want it. What do you get the woodworker that has most of what they want? Let's list some ideas. I'll start...

-sandpaper. Although I specify what type I want.
- turning kits.

Your suggestions?

Sort of depends on your particular interests, but here are a few that come to mind:
  • Gift certificates, though a bit impersonal, are always appreciated (Klingspor's, WoodCrafters, Rockler, or whatever your favorite/closest store is).
  • A book from Lost Art Press. Look ahead and give her a specific title(s).
  • Plane kit/plans (or other kit/plans) from Red Rose Reproductions.
  • Subscription to Mortise and Tenon.

Consider these: quality wood finishing products, a gift card to a woodworking store, subscription to a woodworking magazine, unique wood or tools, personalized decor, new tool accessories, technique books, exotic wood samples, or safety gear/workwear.

I got this one year and REALLY like it - certainly it does not have to be a KM product, maybe an ETSY leather apron, but this was a reasonably priced request for the giver...

I have ALWAYS enjoyed my LAP books and Jim (@creasman ) is right - make a list of titles and let your gift giver surprise you...
