Calico Hardwood

Stopped by and got some wood from John Baker of Calico hardwoods. He's just south of Chicod outside of Greenville. I picked up 40 bf of silver maple and 40 bf of red maple. Nice guy. Offers up his planners and drum sanders if you need them at no charge. Even offered the drum sander if I need it latter on in the project. 2 bucks bf for the silver maple and 2.50 for the red. I bought all of the red.

He has all kinds of stuff.

Only 9 miles from my house. :icon_thum If you know where the chain saw art was on 43 that is where he's at.

That's interesting, I have never seen soft Maple grouped by species before. Is there much difference in appearance between the Red and Silver Maple????
Great prices on the wood, is it kiln dried??

The silver maple looks like any other maple I've seen. The red maple does have a definite red/orange hue to it. I need something with those overtones to go with other things in a room so I thought I would give it a shot. Air dried.
