I took time out from working on the workbench in the shop to reface one of the kitchen cabinets. The old microwave exploded and the new one we purchased was too big to fit into the cubby built for it. The space was large enough to hold it but the old face-frame was just too large 4" sides and 6" top. I rebuilt the face frame from some Red Oak (the old one was plywood vernier) and made the sides only 2" wide and the top 3". The microwave now fits fine. It was a little bit of a challenge matching the color of the frame to the existing cabinets but I think we did OK.

Refacing just one cabinet is a dangerous game...in my house it would only be a matter of time until they all had to be done :gar-La;

Looks good; too good just for one cabinet!!

Great job Ken, but I fear David may be right. It's like eating potato chips: you can't eat just one. :gar-La;

Yes, that is one of my fears. The escalation from "that cabinet looks better than the rest. Let's do them all. And while we're at it lets replace the kitchen counter top," etc. etc.

I may have created a monster.

Thanks for the kind words, btw.
