I don't know how "gutsy" I was! I had visions of smoothing it with hand planes but gave up after about 1/2 hour of pushing, sweating and swearing! :BangHead:
I'd say your sled is much more accurate than mine. I just need a visually flat, fairly smooth surface. It came out smooth but I'm sure it's out by more than a few thousandths. For this application (headboard slab) it didn't need to be perfectly flat. If I ever decide to build a fancy bench I'll go with the aluminum rails.
