I am enrolled in my third woodturning class at the Davidson Ice house. As a new turner the experience was invaluable. The only way to start turning is to get some instruction. (My opinion.)
David Kelnor (sp.), as well as others, teach ongoing classes for would be new turners that are excellent. You don't need to own a single turning tool to begin, but that is a slippery slope as is evidenced by my own turning tool buying addiction.
I am fortunate enough to have a flexible schedule right now so I did take a Monday morning class, but the classes are also offered at night and occasionallly there is a one night demonstration that could also be helpful.
Ice house is a non-profit, so I hope there prices are in line with what you might expect at some other schools too.
Hope this review helps interest new turners and anyone looking to develop skills. It has been a great experience.
