did you watch the instructable? The link provided
he installed it on a dewalt ts and MAY have mentioned such a restriction - but I did not hear it.

Your comment, however, sent me down a Rabbit Hole attempting to discover how one might distinguish a 'universal' motor from 'the alternative.' It took a while as it seems there is not a single 'alternative' to a 'universal' motor. As one fellow, then another offered a contrast and, or an example - I found myself inundated with alternatives and no idea how to tell if which of teh motors in my shop were 'universal.'

Curious to learn your answer.
