This years Mid Winter Blahs Picnic is now history! We had a really great turn out and a whole lot of fun. Members came from as far away as Greenville NC, and Wilmington NC. Phillip, pcooper, won the woodworkers choice award with his beautiful game board. I didn't take any pictures, but now wish I had. We had a great selection of door prizes, with some very expensive ones. We had so many prizes to give away, after everyone had won a prize, all the tickets were put back in the bowl and we continued to draw for the remaining items. I think everyone went home happy. One thing we were all in agreement about was it was such a good event, we want to have it again next year, with lots more members present, and more door prizes from the companies we all do business, especially Klingspors, our biggest supporter, and The Hardwood Store, who very generously offered 3 great prize packages without even being solicited. Thank you Coleman and Cheryl!
On a side note, please remember Skymaster and his family on the death of his son, in a helicopter crash in California. He was a flight surgeon in a medi-vac rescue chopper. Also please remember CaptA's sweet companion Debbie, who has cancer of the pancreas. She has just started chemo and I hope those of you who pray, will lift these folks up.
And lastly, thsank you to Allisnut, Adam Davis and family for all their hard work. They procured the site for us, and Adam grilled the burgers and dogs over charcoal; they were fantastic! Mrs. Davis supervised the kitchen and setting up the tables with food and things, while Adam's son and daughter did pen making demo's. Adam also helped to set up and help Mike Davis, no known relation, to sharpen and refurbish hand planes. There was a great tool and lumber swop also. It was a very good day. So until next year, I'm done with the picnic matters for now.
