Looking for the ultra high density fiber board locally. I may do another speaker build even though I promised I would not as my last were "good enough".
Not sure why it would be better or worth the extra expense over MDF. Higher density ='s more resonance? I don't think standard hardboard comes any thicker than 1/4". There are some hybrid HDF panels with a lacquer coating from Kronospan but I don't know about thickness options with them. Rugby (Kernersville, Charlotte, Wilmington) carries their products. Stiffer means less box loss coefficient and if thick enough, not resonant. I know it comes thicker as I have had little pieces. The "hooked on wood" guy uses it a lot, but unfortunately I think he is in Germany.
Hooked on Wood guy uses Valchromat. Interlam in Mt. Airy may still have some. There is another dealer in Charlotte. Forescolor is a similar product that Interlam has switched to and there may be a dealer in Raleigh.
