My wife asked me to make a tap dancing platform.Yup she tap dances. Nothing hard, but never made one before.
The only real challenge was finding the hardware and the support pad to make it standoff the floor. This increases the platform response, makes it more like a drum head.
The main issue was to make it light. Each side is less than 20 lbs so she could lift and move it.

I used Maple ply with 4 coats of Waterlox, the Penncom platform locks (preferred the butterfly latches, but this is what she wanted), K-flex HVAC rubber insulation (same as Rubitex). I also used dowels to help keep the center from sagging.

Ya just never know what you’ll find on this forum. LoL.

That’s a really novel way to hold the sections together. May be able to use it in other applications. Thanks for sharing.
