Still researching this one, bought it Friday
Come by and check it out sometimeI think I need one of those!
I have the same one, only the adjustment yoke on the frog is broken. You have to adjust it like a wooden plane by tapping the iron. Like you I found a newer, Stanley #113 that is now my user. They're great planes for when you need to smooth a curve.Still researching this one, bought it Friday
Just keep it clean and rust free.Is there any sole maintenance required for a compass plane? Obviously, sole flattening is not needed.
I’ve had a 113 and a 13. I actually like the older 13 better because it holds a set curve better with the two locking screws. these are great for planing curved backsplats for chairs.I have a newer one. They work great.

I’ll be trying them out over the next few months then one is going to my son.It looks to me that the arc of the 13's base can be adjusted independently. That may prove to be a convenience.
I've got some 113s, but my go-to favorite is the 20 when work needs to be done.
It came in Wednesday. When Dan saw my post here he offered me the one he was trying to sell for a few months. I really wasn't looking for any of them. But my son wants one for his tool set.@Mike Davis when did you get the #20?
I thought you were hunting for one recently? (within the last year...)
