10" DeWalt Miter Saw Question

Will a 10" power miter saw cut through a 4"x 3" landscape timber at a 30 degree angle?

Depends on the direction you are making the 30 degree cut.
Cut across the 3" dimension - Yes (cut would be ~3.46")
Cut across the 4" dimension - No (you would need 4.62" of blade)

10" blade is not 5" of cut. You loose 1/2 the arbor size and more to mounting hardware.
I get 3.75" of cut depth on my Makita 10" slider.
