spaulted wild apple turning
I bought 5 pieces on eBay (same seller) of some spaulted wild apple. The lots were 2X2X6" and waxed. When I got them, the moisture content was 17%. Got some Crab Apple
Bossman had a Crab Apple tree in his front yard that had two of the five limbs that was coming up out of the main trunk dying - He said that he was going to wait until this Fall to cut it down - I asked him if I could go ahead and cut it before it died more so that I can get some turning wood... -

Apple Wood Pen
I'm always interested in what my compatriots think. Reaction to this as a Christmas gift for my dad? Had a day off yesterday and decided to try using an old piece of Apple that I had been sitting on for a while. The mix of sap and heart wood really seemd to set it off.- JRD
