Mortise chisel vs. Mortise machine vs. Mortise adpter for drill press

I had a bench top machine for years but got rid of it as it was fiddly and hard to keep things lined up. Probably mostly me…. But i also ended up using Paul Sellers method for a while and eventually bought a set of Narex mortise chisels. Switched to Cosman’s method as the Narex have get...

    Mortise guages

I have this Veritas and it works great. I do make my mortises a little bit bigger than the chisel width as it seems I am incapable of chiseling in a straight line……. Then just clean it up with a regular bench chisel…..

    Ready to finish

Got all the parts made. Had a small slab of walnut and figured it would do as a low coffee table. Not the prettiest piece and lots of worm holes and saw marks. I left a lot of that visible - I can always remove it if I don’t like it after I put a few coats of waterlox on it… I wanted to do legs...

    Used Cabinet Saws

I find I use my bandsaw way more than I ever thought I would. For any heavy cuts now I use that and stick to making light cuts on the table saw. Often I will just make the cut on the bandsaw and finish it with a hand plane. So I don’t use the tablesaw as much anymore, and doubt I would spend the...
