George, this space looks like it beneath a garage. Is that right? I am considering such space for the new houwse we are currently designing. Any special considerations to pay attention to? thanks.
I am so sorry I missed your comment here. Yes, this is below a 3-car garage. Things to consider would be:
ceiling height, mine is only 8' at the highest and 7' at the beams.
water proofing, make sure the area is sealed from above. My builder did not do the best job and I have a few minor leaks when we get a heavy rain.
climate control, it get very warm and humid in the sumer and chily in te winter with all this concrete and steel. If I had it to do over again I would have run radiant heating in the slab
electrical, how will you drop electical service to your cave? Our main service is in the garage so all I had to do was drill a hole through the slab to make my drop. Being the floor, walls and ceiling are either concrete or steel all my electrical runs are surface mounted.
