May 1 is a big holiday in Germany. It's their version of our Labor Day. These are some pics from the erection of a Maipole in Garmisch Germany May 1, 2006. Each Handcraft Guild (Carpenters, Foresters, Plumbers, Bakers, etc) participated in the felling, preparing, and erecting the Maipole. They started at ~7am with a starter round of biers and then got busy.
