xmas ideas for your young wizards and witches

Looking for xmas gift ideas? Here's the magic wand I made for my nephews upcoming birthday. This is probably a lot easier if you have a lathe, but I was able to do most of it on my router table. A few minutes with some carving chisels and several coats of finish later...presto!

BTW, if anyone wants some truly magical wood, I have a very big tulip (poplar) in my backyard that was hit by lightning. I've heard that imbues magical powers, so that is what I used for the wand. I have plenty to share...and I'll have a lot more after I drop the part that is still standing (about 35' of trunk...which I could really use help with...wink wink!).

I try to leave the spells and hexes to the haints and screeches, but
my daughter is a music teacher and that is but a spin on the lathe from a conductor's baton...
