I'm no engineer but it seems like it leaves an obstruction in the line. Other gates seem open or closed but these leave that door in the way with resistance above and below it. Does not seem logical to me but I'm new

I bet they will clog with stringy shavings from machines such as planer/jointer with straight knives. I have to clean the impeller blades periodically on my lathe blowers because of buildup.
Once the blade on this gate has buildup it will not close properly.
For the price I will stay with the slide gate style.

Crazy that they would even design these. A blast gate is an incredibly simple part and unless you want to automate it, it's really a solved problem in the modern woodshop. Why make it more complicated and worse?
