I don't see it and certainly can't feel it. Just have to take your word on it.

Looks like the checker board have grain in all the squares going the same direction. Are they all sawn in same orientation? i.e. all quarter sawn or all flat sawn? If mixed that could be the problem.

Looks like you have many good thoughts here. I recommend the wood movement ref by lee valley.
I think you are wise to consider it. That way after many season of micro movements your great grand children will know what a master craftsman you were! That said I was worried about a mortice and tenon in mahogany. I did the research and math. Bottom line was amount of movement was insignificant. Anyway its the science of what we do and its interesting. The reference is excellent, inexpensive, species specific and brief! :icon_thum
