I say with trepidation because the last time I tried an intro that nasty trojan/virus popped up and took over my (other) computer. I am still trying to get rid of it.
I thought I had introduced my self 5 years ago, but I guess it was in response to someone else's post, and not my very own. So here it is
I've lived in triangle area for almost 20 years now, and maybe I am starting to adapt(?!) to the local ways, although I will never get used to NC summer weather!
My Dad was a WW shop teacher in a local HS, although I did not get the benefit of a shop class. He never built up much of a home shop because he had access to great tools at 'work/school'. I did a few small projects as a kid, but not much.
My interest in building stuff came as a poor married graduate student - cheaper to make than to buy, right? (well if you don't count the cost of tools, materials or supplies!) The last 15 years I have had a shop as a separate building, and have loved it. I have made major furniture pieces, for home as well as for others. More recently the vortex of turning has pulled me in and I have enjoyed learning to turn. Finishing remains my most prominent weakness.
It does seem a bit anti-climatic to make my intro in a 75th post (guessing at that number but too lazy to look it up), but alas here it is.
