Here are some views of my latest project. Our Daughter and her husband built themselves a new house. For a housewarming gift I built a Console Table from a live edge slab of Tzalam.
( Lysiloma Sabicou) It is native to Central America but grows also in southern Florida. Their last name is Knappenberger, so I designed a set of steel legs in the form of a "K", and had them welded up at the local Community College. The finish is 5 coats of blond dewaxed shellac, 3 coats of satin poly (both applied with a french polish rubber & french polish strokes), and 2 coats of paste wax. For the first time I used 3M scotch bright pads (the white -finest) between all coats of finish. I'll use that method again. The underside of the table has changing multi-colored LED strip lights. The remote control for the lights fits in a wood pocket under one end of the table.
