My first real saw purchase was a SCMS, because I thought that was what I needed, in the beginning. I was wrong and have made other purchases since. Anyway I bought a Kobalt 10" SCMS and now I can't get the blade 90 degrees to the fence. Help!
Trouble with my SCMS

I have struggled with my Makita for years. Getting the blade 90 degrees to the table is tough. But worse is getting it 90 degrees to the fence.
On my Makita the fence is one piece but if you release all the bolts the fence is not perfectly straight. This is apparently by design but I can't explain it

The trick is to do one side at a time. Bolt it down loosely and tap with a rubber mallet. Once in place tighten it down. You probably won't need the mallet for the first piece. But I am fairly sure it will help with the second.
