To wrap up posting my most recent projects (this one from June '24), here is the Saddle Stand...
Why build a saddle stand?
Great question... Do we own horses? No. Do we own a saddle? No. Correction, my wife bought a horse saddle at a yard sale, and she wanted to display it.
Apparently, horse saddles are kept on saddle stands. Go figure.
So, after some internet research I did my best design take on a saddle stand. Here are the details:

So, after some internet research I did my best design take on a saddle stand. Here are the details:
- Walnut- 4/4 and 8/4 from the Hardwood Store of NC
- You will see some sapwood in the base- I decided I liked the look.
- The laser engraving (my wife's initial's on the front) was not my best work. I ran some sandpaper over a part of the "C" and got a lighter section (ugh).
- Finish: Rubio 2c Pure- I am sort of a believer in letting the wood speak for itself, so I am not really into stains or dyes (maybe a toner here or there).
