Michael, that kinda sucks...

Why don't you check with Rick DeNardo at the Moulding Source and see what he can get?

Having had cabinet saws with and without a riving knive, I can attest to the fact that the riving knife is a very beneficial thing to have. Kickback is pretty much nonexistant on my new saw with the riving knife, as compared to the old one.

It might be better just to let 'em do the backorder. That way it's out of your hands and you don't have to worry about it. It'll also give you plenty of time to prepare your shop! Takes a little longer but at least you'll get the saw you want. If you make a snap decision to buy something else that isn't quite what you want you might regret it later...

I highly recommend the Unisaw. It is all I have used for 30 years. American made also.

I have not heard of anyone receiving this saw yet but the older 1023's are very highly regarded.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. This has consumed my thinking for almost a week. I really struggled between the G0690 and the G1023rlw. I decided I didn't want to wait a month for the G0690 so I just ordered the G1023RLW. It has all of the features I wanted - plus a router table. Hopefully, it won't be backordered!

Man, you can't catch a break can you??? I'd say you need to get them on the phone and find out what they've got before placing an order. Otherwise, pick the one you want and wait till it comes in. Just don't let your more than understadnable frustration force you into a quick decision you'll regret.

I am going to make a couple guesses:
1) the G0690 is selling better than they estimated.
2) the 1023R series has not been delivered in quantity to Grizzly yet. It is a new model.

Over at sawmillcreek there was talk of low supply of the G0690. And I figure the 1023R is vaporware right now. It is only making it's appearance early due to Grizzly's catalog schedule.
