The person who lived before us in this house was a woodworker. No doubt about it. The interior wall has a large piece of OSB that has tool outlines made using a marker. We're not just talking your typical wrench set and hammer here. I was able to identify a couple of dozuki saws, push stick, table saw insert and router bit height measuringthingamajig. :tool:
On the other side of that interior wall was a vertical lumber rack. At least, that's what I assume. And as of 8:30pm this evening, it "was", it no longer "is". This thing had a capacity of maybe 50bd.ft., yet was build to hold 5,000. Unbelievable. The rack was assembled as a single piece, using half lap joints, horizontal supports and large McFeely's wood screws. It was then screwed to the wall into the studs. Nails were added at random locations. All holes were carefully filled, primed & painted, then everything was caulked. Result? An earthquake-proof, hurricane-proof, sawzall-proof lumber rack.
Well, almost :saw::saw::saw:
Nothing can stand up to the mighty reciprocating saw/ multifunction tool combo!
The recip saw gets 90%, and the MF tool finishes things off very nicely.
I was tempted to just cut the entire wall out (would have been quicker), but nothing is worse than cutting through fiberglass insulation... :BangHead: :BangHead:
I'm not going to be hosting a shop crawl anytime soon... :XXfridge:
