Storing elm slab

I bought an elm slab from Elia Bizzarri a few months ago and I've been storing in my basement to let it dry. He said he treated it for insects but even so I'm beginning to wonder if this is a wise idea. There's no sign of powder post beetles yet, or holes, or any other insect activity, but I'm thinking maybe I should move it outside just in case. Any advice?

Keep it inside. Put down a sheet of plastic like an old shower curtain. Put a few cross sticks down next and then lay the slab on that. Insect activity will show up soon enough if there is any.

On another thread somebody was saying PP beetles can emerge years later, so that is something to consider.

The elm I have worked with has spalted quickly and beautifully, but that may not be the look you want. Be sure that in addition to stickering it, you have a little air flow around the slab.
