There is a ongoing thread on Woodnet about making a 51º rip cut on a table saw. Can it be done? My shade-tree geometry says that a 39º blade angle will result in a 51º cut when the board is flipped over. What do ya'll think?????

So can the cut be made???? I guess it really depends on how the angle cut will be used. Dave (my brain is hurtin' from all the math):)

If you want to cut a 51 degree angle relative to the edge of a board, set the miter gauge to 21 degrees and insert a 30 degree triangle between the board and the miter gauge face. Be sure to clamp securely! (Or set miter to 6 degrees and use a 45 degree triangle).
