**EDIT - resolution to my question was to follow Matt's and Martin's advice (below) and buy the equivalent Metabo part END EDIT**

All:
After many years of service, I believe I need a replacement hook/loop pad on my Ridgid R2610 ROS (6 inch).

I have already replaced the pad in my 'gateway' Festool 5" sander (for those that have one, you know what I mean - it was a $100ish dollars 'entry level' Festool deal that was a available for a very limited time). I ruined the pad on that when doing significant of fine level sanding and then discovering that I has not installed paper on the pad! (Price of stupidity... Yup, I'm one of those!)

This Ridgid part is not the same as the hook/loop pad of the similar later (current?) model Ridgid R2611 6" ROS, which uses 4 attachment screws rather than 1 in the pad. I believe this R2610 was a rebadged tool, presumably a Metabo

e-Replacement parts shows this as obsolete.
Disc Assembly (Hook and Loop) Obsolete - Not Available
Part Number:339160440

Anyone have other parts sources to recommend?

Thanks

This is sold as a Metabo part, but if you look at the "Compatibility" section it lists 339160440 as a part that it replaces. Might be a coincidence, but it's worth a shot.

Excellent - Thanks Matt.
I had not used the 'compatibility' feature there before - shows how often I replace parts I guess (they 'shore' look the same).

Supposedly, the R2610 is identical to the Metabo SXE450:

You can buy just the hook and loop part and replace that. Suggest using a pad protector if you're using mesh/net abrasives as the hooks will get worn off poking through the thin material.

Thanks Mark. Do tell though - What does that mean 'buy just the hook/loop part and replace it'? Any suggestions on where to buy? How to attach to existing pad? Do you have experience with this?
Sounds intriguing, and a real option. I just don't know how.
Have to use a search engine I guess....

If your pad is roached, you'll still need to replace it, but a pad protector will prolong the life of the new pad. They're very inexpensive.

I've not done it but sure you could with a little heat and Goo Gone or Naptha.
