My dozuki does not have a hole in either the blade or the handle. For several years, it has been kept in the cardboard sleeve that it came with - allowing me to hang it with my other saws. When that sleeve finally broke yesterday, I remembered a few posts recently about some slick saw tills. But, being in the middle of another project (and a little lazy), I looked around the shop for other solutions.
:widea:
I remembered the stack of magnets that I pulled out of some dead hard drives. Turns out, they make great saw holders! The mounting brackets they are glued to are inconvenient for other uses, but perfect for hanging a saw:
Here it is with the dozuki:
Those are POWERFUL little magnets! I tried it with all of my saws - the larger saw next to the dozuki sticks like glue. Even my heavy-duty hacksaw stuck well, once I found a part that was steel :>
So keep your eye out for dead drives - they're a great source for those magnets. Of course, you could buy them, too.
