Random Orbital Buffer attachment to RO Sander

I need to buff out a final coat of wax on a table top. Has anyone had a used the buffer sponges or wool adapters for a 5" random orbital sander. They seem to attach via hook & loop. I do not buff enough to afford a dedicated buffer, but I have 2 RO 5" h&l sanders.

Thanks

Where are you located? I can let you use mine if you aren't too far away from franklinton
What a generous kind offer. I needed only to know what experience and brands woodworkers are having with these adaptors. I live in Charlotte, but I basically hand rubbed out the final wax coating this time. The pic showed the slab after 5 coats of shellac & 1 coat of poly. The final has 2 more coats of poly & 2 coats of wax. Should be very durable.

A ROS sander will take "deeper" cuts than a buffer. If you do 3 things, you should be able to use your ROS sander:
  1. Set your ROS to the lowest speed
  2. Move it more quickly across the wood surface than you would when you are sanding
  3. Use only the weight of the sander. Do not press down if it is a palm sander
An alternative is to buy a corded buffer at Harbor Freight. They are so cheap, and probably you won't burn it up on this one project.

I don't buff much either but I bought a harbor freight one off their open box rack for less than $20. It's hard to consider buying accessories that will probably cost as much or more when a new one costs relatively little.
