I wiped the body down tho it probably didn't need that since it was very lightly oiled.
I honed the back and bevel on a Norton 8000 waterstone and didn't need anything coarser. The blade is flat. It didn't take many passes to create a mirror on the back. The bevel had some fine machine lines but they came off quickly. 3-4 minutes and it's sharp enough to make a hair jump.
Placed blade into body, adjusted side align set screws and tried it out on a piece of poplar. It is a pleasure to hold and use. I love the sound it makes, doesn't care if the cut is endgrain, long grain, or a cheek cut. Transparent wisps of shavings right out the gate.
My first LV plane is a well-machined beauty, a keeper for sure!
