Saturday last I went to an auction just to look around. :eusa_naug One thing led to another and you can guess the rest of the story. First item was a widebelt sander, 37" EMC made in Italy and sold through Laguna Tools. The beast is bigger than I thought, so I will likely sell or trade it for an open ended Northstate. Second item was a Biesse automatic edgebander, Don't Ask:BangHead:- bought it to sell. Both items came out of a bankruptcy sale; have been tied up in court for the past three years and wound up in the most unlikely auction. The machines came from a working cabnet manufacturer and were only used for a short period and show very little wear

I'll bet the thread on getting Travis and Scott to move those beasts is gonna be interesting. Think I'll pop some popcorn.

Oh, oh... better idea..... we'll all head to Myrtle Beach to watch and Dino can set out a buffet. Scallops, shrimp and oysters for me. I don't eat barbecue at the beach and I don't eat seafood in the mountains.

That edgebander looks like an incubation pod you might see in a Sci-Fi movie :)
I'd like to say "you suck", but I'm not qualified to comment on machinery this large! Plus, since you're selling them, I'll wait until you buy some "keepers" from the profits.

Wow, I've only seen machines like that in Modern Woodworking, and Cabinet Maker magazines. I don't think I could even figure out how to plug them in. They do run on electricity ??....or maybe nuclear power :eusa_thin

I am experiencing Tool Envy. I am having thoughts of inadaquties with my tools. Must be a side effect of WoodGuy Disease. I need a shot of something to make me all better.

Me thinks that thoughts of inadequacies in this situation would even affect John (Woodguy) himself. That's some big time machinery8-O8-O8-O.
You want to see how high tech and specialized woodworking machinery can get. Check out these free industry publications www.cabinetmaker-digital.com and www.modernwoodworking.com Heck they don't even call it woodworking...it's materials processing

I'm pretty sure those are much larger than our whole shop!!!!!!!!!! Let us know when the buffet will be.

Well Dave to tell the truth, I'm not quite sure how to plug the edgebander in either. Once I got power to it, then what. It has so many automatic functions to set up, I wouldn't know where to start. (see picture). Travis - the widebelt is 37", single belt and three phase; 2001 model, not sure of the HP. I plan to bring them home tomorrow then I'll know more; maybe.

As a machine tech at work I wish I could play with those machines instead of the injection presses I have at work

That is unreal .. and I'm betting you got one heck of a deal on those considering the situation.

How the heck did you move those around? Gotta be a chore!

Dino - those are definitely industrial grade. Just looking at the edgebander makes me wish I could play with it a little while. It looks like the edgebander has a lot of flexibility. Of course the sander looks pretty doggone big. :eusa_danc :eusa_danc

Jeremy, ever heard of Hillman Rollers? They're a neat little trick for moving heavy stuff on a hard surface. They were used to place the support beams under the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse for its move among other places. Millwrights & house movers love'em. If you ever get something heavy enough, they can be rented from most equipment rental places.

Robb, I know where one may be available, but I have lost the card and the contact number that was in my phone was lost when it died.... It may take some leg work on your part, but this machine was 'traded in' when a local-ish shop upgraded to a much larger machine, and the outfit that took it in as a trade never bothered to pick it up. The shop has kept it in a corner, collecting only a little bit of dust in a very clean shop, waiting for the day it is finally collected. (they got the new machine 2 years ago, IIRC) I am sure the people that took it as trade in have nearly forgotten where it is, and bet they would take a token of its value, just to get it off their books, if it hasn't already been charged off as an inventory shortage - and would probably be happy for a small 'extraordinary gain'. Give me two days to get the number, one of my trucks will be running by the shop on Wednesday, perhaps sooner.
