I'm looking for some one on one instruction on how to use the jointer.

After spending several hours with my jointer, reading whatever I can and watching videos, etc., I'm still not comfortable with this tool so I'm looking for someone in the Saluda, Hendersonville area willing to spend an hour or two with me in my shop with my jointer to help me learn how to use the darn thing!

I'm certainly willing to pay a reasonable fee for the help.

Please send a private email if you're interested.

Thanks,

Scott C.

We have several members out in your area both on this NCWW site and in our WNC Woodworkers Association. Hopefully someone will contact you. If not, send me a PM and somehow we'll get you up to speed on the jointer. The jointer is a very useful tool and you need to become comfortable with it.

Check with Rob Payne (McRabbet). He is very active on this site and also the president of a WW in that part of the state.

Scott: Remember the CARDINAL rule! Feed ONLY wood into the jointer! Fingers don't grow back! :cry_smile

As Norm would say, "Safety first, last and always! Good luck with the new tool!:icon_thum

As someone who has fed a finger into a jointer, I can attest to that. I must admit, however, that my fingernail is nice and square:rotflm:.

It's a great tool - just be careful with it and all power tools.

Scott, I'd be happy to come by sometime that is convenient to help you with your jointer. A key is to sure that it is set up properly and I can help you with that as well. I live in Hendersonville and so I'm not too far away. I'll send you an email with my contact info.

And as Ozzie-x has said, we have a good woodworking club in the area if you're interested. Good news and bad -- the bad news is that we had our February meeting yesterday:cry_smile; good is that Ozzie-x is Vice President and I'm President :)no:nah, that's not the good news) -- good news is that it is a great group of woodworkers and we meet in Fletcher once each month.:icon_thum

Thanks. I sent McRabbet and email this afternoon. Looks like he lives only a few miles from me. Hopefully he can steer me to someone who can help.

What a terrific forum! I heard from McRabbet and we're scheduling a time to get together to work on my jointer problem. Thanks to all who replied.
