Seems I have been missed. I spent the last several weeks helping my woodworker teacher, Larry, and his wife Judy move into a new house. That took over a week. Before they were settled in Larry and I found ourselves back in his shop working on a cherry top for a client. After two weeks of working there I finally headed back to my shop to resume working on my walnut desk. the cherry top still hasn't been installed. It is made of strips glued end to end and cut out to the shape of a previous bar. I will try and get final pics to show. I will try not to be gone so long the next time. Husband and I are working week-ends at Nags Head cleaning houses. This is my contribution to the budget. Can you think of a better place to work? Lorraine

Hey Lorraine,

We're looking forward to some photos of that walnut and the cherry in its final form and with finish. (Hope you're having fun with those projects.)

Five years ago if you had asked me what I planned to do when I retired I would have told you that I would be writing fiction. You see I was lucky enough to have two books published. It was fun at the time but when retirement came along my interest in woodworking had started to go. Three years later I find that I prefer to read a book and make furniture. I will post pics of the desk when I get to a good stage.

I was about to send out the search party for you, but then figured that you had dug in at Nag's Head! I've never been there in the summer, but love it in the winter (weird, I know). Please do post pictures - and don't stay gone for so long!

Lorraine, good to hear from you again. I am glad all is going well for you. What type of books did you have published and what are their titles?

Welcome back Lorraine! We all get interruptions once in a while . . . and sometimes they are fun too. ;-)

I also have a great affection for the Outer Banks. And Cathy, the fall and early winter provide the best weather, most interesting birds and wildlife, and most importantly the best fishing
